Introduction
The shower system includes the essential elements of the shower experience: the shower head or faucet, and the shunt or thermostat that determines flow and temperature. These are very standard and expected, but in addition to something like a rain shower head, a shower system can also include a separate hand shower, a body sprayer, or separate control of the amount of water and temperature at multiple outlets.
All of these outward-facing fixtures or decorations are what you install on the shower wall, and they can be standard or custom made. Any additional faucets, for example, require their own pipes to be installed behind walls, and retrofitting is the perfect time to place pipes to optimize the performance of different outlets. Shower boards and shower kits can create a complete shower system experience for any plumbing arrangement, however, no significant changes are required.
Whether you buy the fixtures individually, choose a shower board, or buy a full shower system package, the basic components are the same. This change will depend on how you incorporate them into your bathroom design.
